Choose a power station if
- Your outages are usually hours, not days.
- Your list is a fridge, a CPAP, lights, phones and the internet.
- You can’t run a generator safely outdoors: an apartment, no yard, or no one able to refuel it at night.
Choose a generator if
- Outages last days, and you can store fuel safely.
- You need big motor loads: a well pump, a central AC, several pumps at once.
- You want to power home circuits through a transfer switch or interlock.
Check both against your list
The planner sizes a generator and shows which power stations can run your list and for how long. For a fridge, see backup power for a refrigerator.
